Puta Gorda


Live Art in Wymondham present's Yolanda Benalba’s film Puta Gorda as part of the performance art festival in collaboration with Anteros Arts Foundation.

Yolanda Benalba, born: Valencia, 1992 /Lives: Mexico City, Mexico is a Performer & Visual Artist and the co-director of the platform Decadence Performance Art. Having graduated with an MA in Performing Arts Practices and Visual Culture for the Nacional Center of Arts Reina Sofia Museum (Madrid) connected with the University of Castilla y La Mancha (Cuenca) and a BA in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valence (Valencia).

Benalba’s work reflects on gender and power relations, focusing on the micro-political conflicts that affect the body of women and girls. Interested in spaces where violence and patriarchal power emerge: feminicide and fatphobia are frequent themes in their praxis. From a feminist and performative perspective, she works between irony and pain as tools of artistic communication.
